Trailer (Cat B + E)

LESSONS

Most clients require 8 hours of training (including 1.5 hours of test time). Training is, however, tailored to individual needs and, if you have previous reversing experience, this could be reduced to 6.5 hours but, ultimately, training hours are tailored to individual requirements. Refresher lessons can also be taken on a 1.5 hour basis. No theory test is required for trailers.

FEES

Hourly rates are £50 and a daily course, including the DVSA test fee, is £525. This includes use of a vehicle and DVSA test compliant trailer. Refresher vocational courses for those people who already have acquired (grandfather) rights are offered to learn/practice off road manoeuvres - reversing and uncoupling/recoupling - or just becoming more acquainted with towing trailers.

TESTS

Your test will be booked for Guildford DVSA vocational test centre although very occasionally your test could (under certain circumstances) be booked in Southampton or Lancing.

VEHICLE

Your training will normally be done using a Skoda Yeti and a DVSA test compliant twin axle box trailer which includes a secured 600L IBC with a width and height at least the same as the towing vehicle. You are welcome to use your own towing vehicle but would recommend using the Key 2 Driving trailer.

DURATION

If you took your licence after 1 Jan 1997 and wish to tow a combination fully loaded of over 3.5T gross vehicle weight (normally horse, boat, car, jet ski trailer), you will need to take a separate test. Training and test can usually be done in a day although if you have had no previous reversing experience, often your training is split across 2 separate days.
