Normally organised over 3 days(3.5 hours per day) with the test on the fourth.
Do I need to take my HGV test?
If you passed your test after January 1997 you will need to take your C & C1 in order to drive a vehicle over 3.5tonnes
HGV (C & C1)
VEHICLE
Your training will be carried out in a fully insured Scania P230 18T (gross vehicle weight) automatic HGV lorry. The Scania will be loaded with 5T of water in 5x properly secured IBCs. Provided you already hold a manual licence for another category of vehicle - normally car - you will also acquire a manual licence for lorries (this is not the case for LGV lorry, cat C1, licences). Lorry and trailer (Cat CE) can also be organised and a vehicle provided for an additional cost.
TESTS
After you have successfully completed your medical and passed your PSV theory test, your practical test will be booked for Guildford DVSA vocational test centre although, very occasionally, your test could (under certain circumstances) be booked in Southampton or Lancing. CPC training & test can also be organised.
A normal cat C 4-day course (including DVSA practical test fee) is £1295. This includes use of a DVSA test compliant vehicle. Fees for lorry and trailer training (cat CE) can be provided upon request.
FEES
LESSONS
Training days can be on 4 consecutive days but can also be split into 2 sessions; the final session would always be on the day prior to the test. Training can be organised organised to fit around normal work schedules.
DURATION
HGV lorry training is normally organised over 3 days with the DVSA test on the fourth day. A training day is 3.5 hours, however, occasionally, training is carried out with another client so your day could be spread out over a 7 hour period.
